OCMA Officers, Trustees, Key Contacts, Environmental Affairs & HR Committee, and Members:

As previously announced, OCMA will hold its 5th Annual Golf Outing on Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Cumberland Trails Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio approximately 15-20 minutes east of Columbus. The attached flyer provides most of the details, but several key points need to be emphasized.

* The golf outing is a fundraiser for OCMA. The inaugural outing in 2004 raised nearly $10,000 and last year the golf outing raised more than $19,500 for OCMA. Frankly, the golf outing now raises nearly one-fifth of OCMA revenues for the year and its success has become very important to the financial well-being of OCMA. With this financial "shot in the arm", OCMA has been able to compensate for several recent membership losses such as Ford Motor Company's Cleveland Casting Plant and Ross Aluminum Foundry to name a couple. Given its importance, we are asking for your support of the outing. Like all other golf outings, this is an opportunity to take time off work, gather with your metal casting industry buddies, and forget your troubles for the day. The previous outings have been a blast and we are confident that this year's will be just as much fun. Additionally, the Friday date gives you a legitimate excuse to start your weekend early!

* Fairmount Minerals, Ltd. is once again providing a grand prize that surpasses any other. The winning foursome will be entitled to play the outstanding, ranked in the Top 100 Courses in America, very private, Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio. Housing for the night in a luxury cabin located on-site will also be provided. This is a prize well worth winning. As a consequence of the value of the grand prize, only employees of OCMA member companies will be allowed to win. (Employees located in a nearby state will be eligible as long as they belong to the state foundry association.)

* New this year will be a prize for second place. Last year the winning team's score was a phenomenal 18 under par, but amazingly, the second place team was 17 under par! It just didn't seem right that such a fantastic team effort was not rewarded. To rectify that situation, we are soliciting a second place sponsor to provide a worthwhile prize for the second place team this year.

* We obviously welcome golfers from non-OCMA member companies, so please pass on this information to anyone you know who might be interested in playing in our event. (Be sure to inform them that only OCMA members can win the grand prize.) We would also very much appreciate non-member companies supporting our outing by purchasing a hole sponsorship for $200, so please encourage anyone you know in the metal casting industry to help out.

* Attached is a registration form for individual players and/or foursomes. We will be glad to create foursomes if needed. You are welcome to e-mail a message back to me concerning your intent to participate or complete the registration and send it by mail. Whichever method of registration you use, please submit payment to OCMA, 2969 Scioto Place, Columbus, OH 43221 prior to the outing.

* We are also looking for non-golfers who would like to assist with the administration of the outing. Volunteers will be provided lunch, barbecue buffet, refreshments.and a good time harassing the golfers, especially at the Par 3 raffle hole.

* Good News: The front nine at Cumberland Trails Golf Club is no longer dry! You will be allowed to take alcohol on the front nine, but the refreshment cart is not allowed to sell it on the front nine.

* The Cumberland Trails Golf Club is under new management and member Kim Myers, Griffin Wheel Company, informs me that they have made significant improvements to the facility and the course. Improving upon a course that we have thoroughly enjoyed playing previously can only be a good thing!

* Last, but certainly not least, please note that the golf outing is being held on Friday, August 22nd, not Monday, August 25th. You no longer have the excuse that Monday AM production meetings etc. preclude you from playing and enjoying this event. So mark it on your calendar and prepare to have a great time.
