OCMA Events July 2007 Meeting |
July 27, 2007
OCMA Officers, Trustees, Key Contacts, Environmental Affairs & HR
Committees, & Members:
How about those Cavaliers?! What a comeback! You never know, this could be
the year Cleveland has been waiting for. If the finals are as exciting as
the semi's, we are in for some great basketball. Well, if the NBA and Stanley
Cup finals are underway and the U. S. Open is only a couple of weeks away,
it must be time to prepare for the annual meeting of the Ohio Cast Metals
Association (OCMA). The meeting will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007,
at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The meeting will start with lunch
at 11:30 AM in Room D-131 and the general membership meeting will be held
in Room D-130, beginning at approximately 1:00 PM.
To honor the all-star performance of LeBron James in the play-offs, we will have an all-star line-up of speakers as well. Ohio House of Representative Ross McGregor, will be our luncheon speaker. Rep. McGregor is the only member of the Ohio General Assembly with a strong manufacturing background. Pentaflex, Inc., founded by Rep. McGregor's father in 1972 and located in Springfield produces stampings for the heavy truck industry as well as for OCMA member Honda of America Mfg., Inc. Ms. Kristin Zimmerman, Manager, Environment & Energy Policy, General Motors Company, and Jim Schifo, Keramida Environmental Inc. will provide a broad overview of the increasing likelihood of some regulatory framework to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to address global warming and how that regulatory scheme may impact manufacturing generally, and metal casting operations specifically. Her discussion will include a discussion of how "cap & trade" programs could work and how the setting of the "caps" can have widely different impacts upon certain manufacturers. Ms. Zimmerman is responsible for developing and implementing GM's global energy/carbon management strategy, policy, and practices for all global operations. Many of you are familiar with Jim Schifo, Vice President, Air & Energy Services, Keramida Environmental, Inc., who has been associated with the metal casting industry for more than 35 years. Also, Kathy Trent, Government Affairs Director, Waste Management Inc., will provide an overview of regulatory responsibilities for foundries relating to solid waste disposal. Finally, there will be an environmental update. (See attached agenda)
ATTENTION: OCMA Trustees will be elected at this meeting.
Please return the attached registration form along with a $50 check for each registrant by Friday, July 13, 2007, so we can plan accordingly.
