Ohio Representative Chris Widener, (R-Springfield), sponsor of H.B. 342,
the recently enacted legislation that establishes medical criteria for civil
lawsuits claiming illness from exposure to silica, will discuss the successful
passage of H.B. 342, a clear victory for tort reform and the metal casting
industry. He will also comment on prospects for additional success. Our second
speaker is on her way to becoming a celebrity in the manufacturing arena.
Karen Buchwald Wright, CEO, President, and owner of Ariel Corporation, who
was recently appointed Vice-Chair of the National Manufacturing Council,
will discuss her role on the new panel that is charged with providing a needed
voice for manufacturers in America. Additionally, Barry Moore, Facility Engineer,
GM-Powertrain-Defiance, will describe recycling of foundry process by-products
at the GMP Foundry. Last but not least, OCMA Vice President for Environmental
Affairs Kurt Braun will provide his environmental update.
